does my dog have a broken tail ?
For the last 2 days my dog has quite a tender tail and there is a very slight bend about half way down. He is still wagging it and lifting it right up in the air and down but is a bit nervous about having it handled. We are at the vets on Tuesday anyway to be neutered where the vet is going to look at it but I'm wondering what he could have done to it that would still enable him to use it normally. I thought that if it was broken or dislocated it would just hang?
It could be a sprain, broken, or what happened to my pup, luxated. That means the bones got separated and the ligament that hold them together got stretched. My girl would yip every time she sat on it. She fell backwards when jumping and landed on it wrong. She has just a slight little kink at the tip from it. The vet gave us some pain meds for her and in under two weeks she was fine, but is still not happy if someone messes with her hind end, when it didn't bother her before her accident. Hope this helps.
