Dog Puppy

Does anyone have tips on how to introduce a new puppy to a current dog?
I have a 1 year old shepherd who is a total sweetheart, but can be protective and standoffish toward strange dogs/puppies. I am getting a puppy in 2 weeks and want to introduce him in the best way possible. I know it should be done on neutral territory, not in his home, but is there anything else I should do? Thanks!
I am hoping this is going to be a male/female combination? I would suggest the following
Not a good ideas to meet at your house, have them meet in a neutral place like a park, have someone help you and take them for a walk one person with each dog, let them sniff and then walk along together, try and take them for a good walk together. They will begin to bond as a pack which is what you want. Feed the older dog first, greet the older dog first and the pup will learn that he is the follower, you are the boss and he is the low man on the totem as it were.
When you get back to your house, be sure that you go in the house first and the dogs follow you, strong leadership will help you getting these two to know each other and get along.
Best of luck and enjoy your new pup.

They aren't from the studio's best-known cartoons but from some of Stalling's most impressive tempo-warping, all-systems-go pieces, augmented by a few mini-pieces that illustrate the way he could transform barely familiar show tunes and classical themes into wild, rubbery jokes...
