Strips Dog
what does "stripping" mean when it comes to grooming a dog?
Maybe I am dumb, but I never could figure out what that means.
I have a brussels griffon and I read that she needs stripping.
I can't take her to a groomer because I want her to stay cute! Nobody around here has even heard of a dog like her. So I must groom her myself.
Help!
Stripping requires pulling out the dead hairs. You can do a decent job of stripping a coat with a Mars Coat King but it does cut rather than pull some of the hair so it isn't as good as hand stripping but only someone very familiar with wire coated breeds will probably be able to tell.
It doesn't surprise me that none of the groomers in your area no how to strip a dog and if you dog find one it will cost you a small mint because it is a time consuming process. Personally I learned how to strip a coat from an old time Welsh Terrier breeder many many years ago. Your best bet for learning how is to find a show terrier breeder and see if they are willing to teach you.
