Claws Dog

removing dew claws on dog... post op question?
My Shiba Inu loves running around the house when he is playing with the kids. A couple of times, he tore one of his dew claws making a 180 degree turn on the carpet. I finally decided that for his own good, to have the dew claws removed.
Instead of having just the surgical site bandaged, the vet (one of the best in town) bandaged his entire foot; leaving his paws completely bound up within the bandaging. He's a wonderful little dog, and is already playing (limited by the cone thing around his neck) with the kids the morning after the operation. However, he is very awkward and slips alot on smooth surfaces with the bandages covering his toes.
Is it safe for me to rebandage his feet in a way that does not cover his paws? The vet's assistant says I need to keep them bandaged for 10 days... any words of wisdom in this area?
I would leave the bandages on his feet. The vet is one of the best for a reason.
However, if he is sliding on smooth surfaces, why don't you try to put those little slippers with the treads on them on his feet? He may look silly for a few days, but at least he will not slip as much.
