Cat Pink
My cat has 3 really dark pink patches where there is no fur?
Yesterday I noticed some dark pink patches on my cat where there is no fur. Im guessing she scratched so much that she pulled her fur out? There are 3 all together, 2 on her legs and 1 on her lower stomach. Does anyone know what could be causing this? She has already been treated for fleas with frontline plus so its not fleas doing it. What could it be?
It's ringworm. The hair around the edges just lifts right out without pulling.
It doesn't always itch, or form a circle.
You can go to the foot dept. in rite aid or anyplace, and get lotrimin AF.
You want whatever you use to have clotrimazole, thiabendazole, or miconazole as active ingredient.
It's ok if cat licks it, but they usually don't even know it's there.
Treat areas 2 times daily. Ringworm grows from the edges outward, so treat the outer part of the patch as well.
Use this for 2 - 3 weeks.
Ringworm is a fungus, not a worm. I've treated lots & lots of kitty-ringworm, and have only ever gotten one teeny little spot, that I used the lotrimin on.
If she is longhair or if the ringworm is still spreading then shave the area a bit (Be Careful) and keep applying medicne.
Ringworm can be picked up really easily by cats- and in times of stress the cat'll show symptoms.
You should see the hair begin growing back in about a week.
Maybe a bit longer. If it keeps spreading, or no results are seen, the vet can give you conofite, but you should be okay with the above antifungals.
