Beco butterfly baby carrier or Ergo?
My baby is 11 months a little over 20lbs and I have been using our Baby Bjorn, which he is now outgrowing and it digs into my shoulders causing a lot of pain in my neck and back. so i want to try a new carrier either the Beco Butterfly or the Ergo. They are both really expensive and before I make the investment I would like to know from personal experience which one is more comfortable for baby and wearer and why do you like either Beco/Ergo better? thank you
I personally have an Ergo for my 20 lb 7.5 month old. He loves it and so do I. We were in the Denver airport going through security two days ago and the woman in front of me had her son (older than mine) in the Butterfly. She had him on her back while my son was on my front. Her sons legs were splayed out almost in a split (she was a bigger woman) and I was looking at the carrier wondering how she got it on all by herself. The Ergo is very easy to get on and off by yourself (back or front). The Ergo also has a sleeping hood (comes in handy because my son always falls asleep when i am walking with him in it for a while, and it has a zippered pocket for keys/wallet/phone so you don't need to carry a purse too. I didn't see either of these features on the Butterfly. The Butterfly also looked as if it was made of thinner cotton rather than the back-pack like canvas the Ergo is made of. Thus I bet the Ergo stands up to dirt/spit-up better and can hold more weight without stretching (or digging into your little ones legs).
